New Music Wednesday: Summer's Hottest Workout Song!
I have a challenge for you. It’ll take about 4 minutes and 30 seconds of your time. The benefit is simple: you’ll workout harder… and have way more fun doing it. (Music has that kind of power. The trick is it has to be “new” music… ). If you take this challenge and find me wrong, then by all means, please let me know.
Here’s the challenge:
- Pick an activity: burpees, push-ups, squats, running on the treadmill, marching in place, squat jumps, air jacks, plyometric scissors... you know, pick something good ;)
- Commit to do this activity for the entire duration of Uma Thurman - the workout remix.
- Move to the beat! Stay on it! It's 150 beats per minute (that's about 6 mph on treadmill).
- Don't quit until the song is over!!!! You do that one "move" until the very... last... beat.
What do you think? Can you do one challenging thing for an entire song? It’s just one song. And it’s potentially life-changing. (An exaggeration? Nope. Sometimes all it takes is a single 5-minute challenge to make people realize they can do hard things.)
Uma Thurman is a song that has it all: speed, energy, quirkiness, gritty guitar, hard rock, interesting lyrics and a solid, workout-winning 150 beats per minute!
Remember, if you haven’t made a conscientious effort to literally “run to the beat” (or walk, cycle, pedal, etc) then seize the moment and try it today! Think of it as a 99-cent opportunity to see if moving to a new beat makes you feel like a rockstar. When your body is in sync with the beat that feeling of perfect harmony makes you feel stronger… making something hard feel more doable.
The challenge is simple: can you do one hard thing (burpees! push-ups! squats! run!) for an entire song? Make sure it’s a sizzling song like Uma Thurman - the workout remix to keep your muscles fired up and ready to work. #keepingitfresh
