NY Times: Real Runners Do Take Walk Breaks
“We told you so”
A recent article in the New York Times pointed to some recent research showing how walk breaks during a marathon decreases feelings of muscle pain and fatigue without increasing race time. The author, Jen Miller, recounted her own tales of how adding walk breaks improved her race results. She also spoke about the pioneer of the run-walk-run method, Jeff Galloway, and how he’s helped over 300,000 people successfully cross the finish line. It’s a hard thing for many people to believe, but walk breaks make you run faster overall. Most importantly, it drastically reduces the chance of injury while training for your event.
