10 surprising facts about lactic acid

For years we’ve been told that as exercise intensity increases, lactic acid builds up, your muscles start to burn, and you slow down. This lactic acid then remains trapped in your muscles and causes soreness the next day unless you work it out with stretching. As I’ve mentioned before, not only does lactic acid have nothing to do with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), but lactate is actually a fuel source your body uses to sustain intense activity. Lactate isn’t actually a metabolic waste product, but rather an important molecule that fuels your workouts, causes rapid improvements to your health and fitness, and can even heal your brain after concussions. Why everyone should do cardio

Cardio exercise and resistance training provide different yet equally-important benefits for your health, well-being, and appearance, but I’ve noticed that many exercisers (even long-time veterans) tend to love one type of fitness and absolutely hate the other. Runners typically hate lifting weights and weight lifters can’t stand jogging. To really increase your longevity, physical and mental well-being, and overall quality of life, you really need to fit both into your exercise plan. I’ve already gone over the benefits of resistance training, so it seems only fair to outline why every one should do some kind of aerobic exercise (cardio).
